Built from 12 years of coaching.
Built through coaching 5,000+ students.
For 12 years I’ve coached players at every level, from complete beginners to some of the strongest young players in the world. No matter their level, I kept seeing the same pattern.
The lesson was rarely the problem.
Students understood the idea during class. But when they went home, they had no clear plan for the next six days. They solved random puzzles, played blitz games, or simply didn’t practice at all. Week after week, they repeated the same careless mistakes.
The students who improved the fastest weren’t always the most talented. They were the ones who built better habits between lessons.
That simple observation became the foundation of CrunchChess.

“I didn’t build CrunchChess to replace a coach. I built it to be the coach my students needed between lessons.”

Our principles
Precision over volume
Fifteen focused minutes beat two distracted hours. What builds a player is not how much they practise, but how deliberately.
Insight over instinct
A child improves fastest when they understand why a move failed, not just that it did. Understanding lasts; guessing fades.
Fun is not optional
If a child does not enjoy the work, they will not keep coming back to it. Enjoyment is not a bonus; it is what makes practice last.
Better habits win
Real improvement comes from steady, structured practice, not from solving more puzzles. The work between lessons is where players actually get better.
What CrunchChess actually is
CrunchChess is the daily practice that turns lessons into improvement. A lesson plants an idea; improvement comes from working at it a little every day, until it sticks. That’s the part most players never have a plan for.
So CrunchChess gives players one: a short, structured session each day, built around the mistakes they actually keep making. Over time, those same mistakes stop coming back.
Whether a player trains with a coach or on their own, every day has a clear purpose.
